Evaluation Comments for West J

  1. Good Class-- all the information is presented in the lectures, however, so you MUST take good notes. West is always availible for help on the essays and invites the class to his house for Russian movies.
  2. Very interesting, but very difficult class. West is an amazing, passionate professor and always willing to help (but a hard grader). Lectures are invaluable to doing well in the class. There is a pretty heavy workload towards the end.
  3. West is a fantastic lecturer, but his essay prompts are abstract and are graded harshly. This is a course I wish I had audited.
  4. This is the greatest class I've taken in Middlebury! Professor West has a certain kind of passion for his subject and you cannot help but be infected by it. This class makes my day and I can't help looking forward to it the night before. If you want to take a class that will excite your interest, take HI 247 and if you want to experience drama in all its pathos, take a course with James West.
