Evaluation Comments for Monod P

  1. Monod is a tough grader when it comes to papers, and the amount of reading in this class was a little daunting. Additionally, the reading was a little boring. I was hoping to read more fiction in the class, but we spent a large amount of time on topics such as aristocratic courtship practices. Although the course is a hybrid between literature and history, it becomes pretty clear early on that Monod is a history professor. However, I am incredibly glad I took this course. I felt that my writing improved immensely, since Monod was such a tough grader, and I usually enjoyed the classes. Monod has a great sense of humor, although conversations sometimes consisted of him awkwardly asking questions no one knew the answer to. Also, I would strongly recommend Monod as an adviser. He has been at Midd for over 25 years, so he knows how things work. He also was fantastic when I approached him with problems outside of class. Monod is overall a great guy and a great option for any first years considering him as a seminar teacher.
