  12. Course material seemed a bit out-dated, but by no fault of the Professor. Lectures were nicely balanced with discussion and occasional films. Koch is clearly very knowledgeable and has a lot of enthusiasm for anthropology.
  13. It was a bit hard to follow along with the lectures and take notes at the same time, and they were sometimes a little dry. The topics were really interesting though, and I recommend trying your best to keep up with all the reading, which is sometimes a lot, sometimes not too bad. Discussions could get really interesting if you participate. I took this course her second year, and I get the impression it was better this year. We had three papers and some other small writing assignments.
  14. Professor Koch is obviously a new professor and you can see it in her teaching. Material is interesting, however if you're planning on taking this class, try another professor.
  15. This was a terrible course. Koch is so dry and has no confidence in what she is saying so it makes it hard to follow and boring. There was a lot of reading that we didn't really talk about in class but you needed to know for the exam. One paper and a midterma and final, all of whcih aren't terribly hard. I would not take this class unless you have to.
  16. Really cool class- learned so much. Got help when needed and great assigments.
  17. The material was really interesting in general, but sometimes the reading could be boring. The professor was good, but dry at times Overall I enjoyed this class.
  18. this class is a bit of a survey and thus doesn't go too in depth. it is not a very exciting class and the professor seems to feel the same way. i would only take this class if it was required for your major or with a different prof (stoll, sasson).
  19. Material is interesting. The lectures are a bit dry, but the class goes really fast. Discussions were always very interesting. The professor is open-minded but does purport her own ideas, which can lead to problems. But overall, this is a fairly easy class, and no big deal. If you're somewhat interested in the subject, go ahead and take it.
