  2. wonderful course, learned so much. rochford is a fantastic lecturer.
  3. Burke Rochford is a great professor - one of the best I've had at Middlebury. He is extremely knowledgeable and well-read about the topic and is able to contribute personal experience and research to his lectures. While he always shares his opinions, he does not dominate class. Each class is heavily discussion based, which makes it really interesting and engaging. That is what Middlebury is all about. There are two take home exams (open note, open book) and one 7 page paper. He factors class participation into your grade as well. I will warn you that there is a lot of reading. For about a month, we had one book a week. However, the majority of the reading is very interesting and not difficult to get through. Definitely take this class.
  4. This is probably my favorite class I've ever taken at Midd - the material is really interesting and engaging. The course is a lot of reading - you have one book a week for a month - but I can honestly say that usually I enjoyed the readings. Grading was fair, and really, Burke is the man. Definitely take any class with him. He's insightful and knowledgeable and generally a really great guy.
  5. Be ready to read.
