Evaluation Comments for Hamberlin, L.

  1. Great class! Hamberlin is a fantastic lecturer who makes early music history really exciting! After each class I couldn't help but go tell my friends about some cool fact we learned, or something we listened to because it was all so darn interesting. Good class to take if you're interested in "classical" music but don't know enough about it to fully appreciate it. Don't bother with the reading- Hamberlin covers it all in class, but better. Very little work required until exam time, when some serious memorising of dates/composers/pieces is required.
  2. This class was not as in-depth as I would have liked, but Larry is very friendly and fun.
  3. Expect to do extra work if you don't already know how to read music. But Hamberlin is FANTASTIC. He synthesizes music history in extremely fascinating ways. I even went to class when I was sick and skipping all my other classes because of how interesting the lectures are.
