  2. prof. dorman pretends to be a tough grader and really picky about the format of your homework assignments, etc. in reality, though, he never returned homework and pretty much stopped picking it up by the end of the semester. you have to be self-motivated to do the assignments and get help on them (he's very good about office hours and will spend as much time as you need). if you don't do the assignments and understand them, you are screwed for the exams. they are hard, but (and he didn't tell us this before the first one, he assumed we knew) he will help you on exams, not as much as on homework obviously, but he always says he'd rather you understood how to do it than not do it at all. also, i made an a in this class and i thought i was failing for most of the semester. i don't have any idea how he calculates his grades, but if you show him you're working hard (go to office hours, etc) you should be fine.
